 JOIN THE PACK

The Winnipeg Wolfpack is now accepting female athletes (ages 16+) for the 2024 year.

No Football Experience Required

Athletes do not need previous football experience to be part of the Pack. Our coaching staff and experienced team veterans will lead you into the sport.

Commitment is Key

Football is a team sport; to be a part of the Pack you must fully commit to be on the field with your teammates several times a week. Together is the only way the Pack succeeds.

Prepare to be Challenged

Football is a full-contact, tough sport. You will face and conquer physical and mental challenges with your Pack by your side. Don't be intimidated -- football players come in a vast variety of shapes, sizes, heights, weights, and skill sets.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What if I don't know anything about football?
No sweat! Our coaching staff brings decades of football experience to our practice field; teaching the sport is their passion! Many of our athletes joined the Wolfpack with zero football experience, some of whom have grown to compete internationally while representing our country as part of Team Canada in the 2011, 2013, and 2017 IFAF Women's World Championships.

Am I too small/big to play football?
This is a common fear for new recruits! Football is very unique in that there is a position every build, height, weight, and body type. Our coaching staff will guide you towards a position that best suits your size and skill set; whether you are the muscle and heart in the trenches of the offensive line, have the speed and the reach of a wide receiver, or any position in between.

Will I get hurt?
Football is a full contact, highly physical sport. While injuries may occur, our coaching staff takes player safety very seriously. You will be coached to take and make a tackle safely, reducing your risk for injury. Our coaching staff includes a knowledgeable, certified Athletic Therapist who will be present at practices and games for player needs and questions.

Do I need to purchase equipment? What do my registration fees include?
Our registration fees include the rental of most of the equipment you will need for the season -- helmet, shoulder pads, hip and tail pads, game and practice pants, game socks.

We do not provide a mouth guard, cleats, or gloves (optional). There will be a one-time fee for your personalized game jersey that will be yours to keep and use in future seasons.

Registration fees also cover all travel costs (bus and hotel included, players have to purchase their own food while on the road), equipment rental, field and practice facility fees, WWCFL league fees, game day and referee costs.

What kind of time commitment is required to join the Wolfpack?
The Winnipeg Wolfpack is a competitive travel team that competes in the Western Women's Canadian Football League (WWCFL).

Pre-season training runs twice a week from February until the beginning of April. When weather permits, we head outside 2 practices a week to prepare for our games that will be held on weekends in May and June. Our season is generally wrapped up before July.

Be prepared to commit 2 hours per practice to the team. Missing practices, chalk talks, or film reviews are a setback to not only your own growth as a football player, but to your entire Pack as a whole.

The Wolfpack is a volunteer and player funded organization. Players must commit to participating in a handful of fundraisers both during season and in the off-season. Thanks to the fundraising we complete, our registration fees continue to be the lowest in the entire league.
